I purchased the subject undated studio portrait of a young woman taken by Flagger & Plummer, Lewiston, ME.It is identified on the back:
"Mabel S. Garcelon Ashby Mass 1898-1900 Princeton Mass 1900-1902"
I found this individual listed in several public member trees posted on ancestry.com.She is listed in the 1880 Census data for Dover, Piscataquis Co., ME; the 1900 Census data for Ashby, Middlesex Co., MA; and the 1910 and 1920 Census data for New Gloucester, Cumberland Co., ME.
Mabel Sarah Garcelon, born 27 Dec 1876 in Dover, MA, died 1938, was the daughter of a woolen mill worker, William Henry Garcelon (1846-1902) and Harriet Newell Small (1849-1911).She graduated from Bates College, Lewiston, ME, Class of 1898, and afterwards taught school in Ashby and Princeton, MA.On 21 Aug 1902, she married a farm laborer, Albert Douglas True, born 6 Dec 1874 in New Gloucester, ME.The couple had four children--Alma Harriet True (1903-1999), Martha Caroline True (1905-1999), Annie Newcomb True (1908-?), and Eleanor L. True (1914-?).
