Hi, I'm not sure how much farther you've gotten in your research since you posted this, but someone posted a reply to me in one of my messages and I think it *may* help you!
I will cut and paste it below:

Mary, I have been researching the Gardopees (my great-great grandparents) from Bay City and have come across the Hennard name. There was a John Hennard who was godfather to Anna Gardopee who was born 4/14/1867. John was married to Joanna (maybe Jane) Gardopee so he was a brother in law of my great great grandfather. They had a number of children. On the 1894 Michigan census Jane declared herself the mother of 13 children but only 9 were living. On the 1870 census they had two children Albert and George. In 1880 there was Albert, George, Matilda, Edward, Eva and Royal. Finally on the 1894 Michigan census there was Rourance, John and Lizzie. I did track down the oldest child Albert who married Christina Thrash on February 22, 1893 and on the 1900 census they had two children Eva born in December 1894 and Hazel born May 1896 and Alberts mother Jane was living with them on Campbell Street in Bay City (John and Jane lived on Campbell street also in 1880 I believe the house was passed over to Albert in April of 1896 according to the Deed index in Bay County). That is about all I know so far about the Hennards. I am not sure if these people are ancestors to your mother? or not. I know there is a time gap but hopefully this will help you in some way. Perhaps you could check the 1910 census for Albert and Christina to see if they had any more children that could perhaps fill in some more of the gap. Hope this helps.
I, too, hope this helps! -- I think that "Royal Hennard" may be my great-grandfather, so perhaps we're related? :oD
