I have information you are seeking concerning the Garman/Wyatt connection.Peter Simon Garman married Sarah Ann Miller, March 1, 1863 in Allen County Ohio. They had Noah Webster b.1864, Minnie Esther b. 1866, William T. b. 1868, Jennie Virginia, b. 1870, Newton James, b. 1871, Alice Irene, b. 1874, and Maud Elizabeth b. 1877.I believe Peter was married before Sarah, for he had a daughter b. abt. 1860, her name was Sarah E.Peter Simon is on the 1850 census in Chapman Twp., Union County, PA. with his father, John Peter and mother Elizabeth Witmer and family. The children are Frederick age 15, Peter Simon age 14, Elizabeth age 11, Hetty age 9, Agnes age 8, Noah age 7, Mary age 4, Henry age 2 and Newton age 1.The family left PA. and moved to Elkhart County, Indiana and there you will find them on the 1860 census, except for Peter Simon, I have not found him, but he appears on the 1870.
I know Peter Simon moved around the country, for he was a traveling Brethern Minister. He lived inMissouri, Oregon, California, and Tennessee. He died in Lawrence Co., TN. in 1904.His wife Sarah remarried in 1910 to James Wyatt. They lived in California. She died in 1926 in LaVerne, CA.
My husband is a grandson of Newton James Garman b. 1871 in Oregon.I am interested in finding out when the Garman/German family came to the U.S.You mentioned you have a Bible left to you by your Aunt.It said something about the Garmans coming from Amsterdam abt 1689 to Harrisburg, PA.Would love to visit with you about all this.I have more on Sarah's parents if you want that.
