Jim, I've almost certainly found the surname of the infamous and mysterious "Barbara/Barbary" who was married to John Garman (German, etc). She is listed in the 1789 Earl twp will of her father Frederich (Johan Friedrich) Gless (also spelled Glais, Glas(s), Glase, Glace, etc).In her father's will, her spouse is given as John German. Her younger brother Leonard married John Garman's younger sister Christina. And in July of 1781, John and Barbara German were the sponsors for the baptism of Christine Ihly (Illig, Illich, Ely, etc), the child's parents being Barbara's older sister Christina Gless who married Philip Ihly (or some variation thereof). The baptism took place at the Cocalico Ref. church. In Frederick Gless' will, his wife Ann is mentioned as well as all his surviving children and their spouses (if they are married). This was a great find after all these years and seems to make perfectly logical and sound sense.!!
