The 1830 census of Gwinnett Co., Georgia shows this:
Hamilton Garmany
Free White Persons - Males - Under 5: 2
Free White Persons - Males - 20 thru 29: 1
Free White Persons - Females - 20 thru 29: 1
So therefore the wife of Nathaniel Vowell who was born 1811-1820 could not be the daughter of Hamilton Garmany.
Hamilton Garmany was elected Captain of a Company of mounted Infantry which was part of the 45th Regiment of Georgia Militia, in May, 1836, Town of Lawrenceville, Gwinnett Co., GA. This was during the Creek Indian War.See http://www.couchgenweb.com/gwinnett/indian.htmhttp://www.couchgenweb.com/gwinnett/indian.htm
Maybe the Vowells considered him a hero and named their son after him?The 1850 census of Tallapoosa, AL shows Hamilton Vowell, age 13, born in Georgia.
