I had found the death certificate for Joseph Garretson b/1824 d/1918. And the notation that his father was also Joseph. Mother unknownI didn't mean to imply that this was wrong.Just the possibility that the informant could have been.
I need to get a real copy of the death certificate.
Even though it is a "primary" source, there are frequently errors. Often depending upon who the informant was.Since Joseph was 94, his 2nd wife shouldn't have been too much younger. When my husband died a few years ago, I had TYPED a notice for the local newspaper. His mother's maiden surname was BOWN (heirtage England) the paper's staff saw fit to CHANGE the surname to BROWN without calling me.
There are other Joseph Garretson in the area. Joseph b/a/1811 s/o Joseph Garetson & Elizabeth Williams I 'think' he died 18 June 1840. with sibs of Anenath b/1805;ASA b/1807 & Elizabeth b/1815.
Joseph b/a/1820 s/o John Garretson & Henrietta Bright.
Joseph b/15 Dec 1810 s/o Casparius Garretson & Sarah Kirk supposedly m/Mary Poor about 1836
There was also a record in Steubenville for a marriage for a Joseph Garretson and Rebecca Updegraff legally married on 30 (October written and crossed out with July written above) 1855 Given Under my hand, this 5th day of October A.D.1855 Wm. Deveny, Minister of the Gospel#9289
