William Garris b. 1785 m. Martha Hough & Briley family say he married Elizabeth Briley Cox, went to Athens, Campbell, Georgia where he was contacted by his brother James Garris who had no children, built the Plantation at Lilesville, Anson, Nc and willed it to his son Benjamin Franklin Garris who came to Lilesville. Henry Furman Garris had newspaper articles in the Wadesboro Roadrunner Newspaper stating this when he returned. William was the son of James Garris b. 1765 Northampton Co., Nc m. Elizabeth Joyner, his father was John Garris b. 1737 Southampton Va, moved to Northampton, NC m. Isabella Sikes b. 1741. The farm at Margaretsville, Northampton, Nc was on the Va border and also had land in Southampton, Va until it was taken for taxes. His father was Amos Garris III m. Comfort Sharp and sister Elizabeth Sharp. There were steel mills in Savannah, Ga and a Garris m. the daughter of the owner. Received benefit of estate of William Mainor Jan 20, 1796. Was a juryman Oct 17, 1809, received 50 acres of land from Daniel Glisson July 18, 1810, deed proven Jan 20, 1813 Duplin Co., NC. William Garris wife had a family withMartha Hough in Campbell Co. Ga. and possibly another family with Elizabeth Cox Briley.
