Hello Raymond, I went to Cadillac where my grandfather was raised by foster parents. Their names were Ben and Maud Whaley.Found a book titled "The Whaley's Bakers Dozen" (a lead by another internet helper from Whaley gen forum).I know my grandfather as Raymond Justin Garrow, in this book he is Justin Garrow, and this is the right person because it mentions that he married a girl named Lottie (my grandmother, Raymond's wife). Also found him in the 1920 census of Cadillac there in the library, under Ben Whaley - head of household and Maud Whaley - wife, and my grand father is listed as Justin Whaley - boarder, age 15 (age is correct for him). The one thing I don't understand is why they have him listed with the last name of Whaley, when he was never adopted. No other children were listed in this census. When looking through the probate index, I did come across a Robert Garrow, who had died in 1919. I don't know when, but I plan on going back to Cadillac to the county clerk's office to do some digging, because I didn't have the time on this trip. The Cadillac Library also has the 1910 census and I didn't have time to go through.
