Ann,
My James would've been the father as he married Elizabeth Grant in 1832 and stayed in Tannaghmore. I have all of the children from that marriage (none of them married) but I don't know if I have all of the children from his first marriage (my gg-gfather was Michael was from the first marriage). There is only 1 Garvey family in Mullaghbrack, all appear to be children of James. James' headstone refers to "his brother Felix" - the only place we found a Felix Garvey in the correct time frame was Newtownhamilton, Tullyvallen. Felix is apparently not a common name and on 3 Felix Garveys appear in the civil registration records.
Good luck with your search. You might want to check the records that I've transcribed for Garvey in Armagh (mostly Mullaghbrack parish).
