Mission Mill Museum in Salem, Oregon is seeking descendants of the Oregon Methodist Mission to the Willamette Valley for a reunion scheduled for September 6-8, 2002.
Mission Mill is a complex of historic buildings including the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill and some of the oldest wood frame buildings in the Northwest, which were part of the Jason Lee Mission that was established in the 1830s.Three structures – The Jason Lee house, Jason Lee Parsonage and the John D. Boon House date from the 1840s and were all moved to the Mill grounds in the 1960s and 70s in order to preserve them. It’s a beautiful setting and the buildings are furnished with period pieces.
The reunion is intended to become an annual event for the community centered around descendants of members of the Lee Mission.I serve on the board of the museum, but, unfortunately, cannot claim any of the mission families as ancestors. If you have any of the following people in your tree – contact museum curator Kuri Gill, at 503 585-7012 or email her at: email@example.com- the museum website address is: www.missionmill.org
