Thomas Gary lived in Anderson County , S. C.There is a book entitled GARY FAMILY OF ENGLAND TO VIRGINIA TO SOUTH CAROLINA which was written by Ethel Speer Updike. It is available on microfilm through the LDS Family History Library , and you should be able to order it to be sent to a Family History Library close to you.If you do not know where one is located, then you can check under the Family Search.org site and there should be a listing of all of the Family History Centers available.I don't know how much the cost is now, but I don't think it would be that expensive to order it. Thomas Gary was born in 1752, I believe. He was the son of John Gary who was born about 1725 in Prince William County , Va. They migrated to Newberry county, S, C. and then ended up in Anderson County, S. C. I believe if I remember correctly that they had at least 8 children who were all born in Newberry County. He should be on the census for 1810 and 1820 in Pendleton district of South Carolina. I would suggest that you use a search engine such as Alta Vista and just type in Thomas Gary genealogy and see what you may find from that search.I wish I knew more to tell you.You could look on Cyndi's list to check and see what other avenues that you could proceed to check out.I just don't remember having read the articles, but I'm sure that there are a lot of them posted on the web and you could search for those as well.seems like the census for slaves did not start until 1850 where they were listed, but I may be wrong. wish I could help you more. I will keep looking across the magazines that I read on genealogy to see if I come across something and I will e-mail you back if I find any more ideas.Good luck.
