I have worked back to Smith L. Gasaway and his wife Elizabeth who were living in Parke Co, IN in 1880 and in Putnam County in 1900 census.In the 1880 census their children were James O. age 13, Mary A. 11 and Arta M. (dau) age 1.A Rallah Spurgeon, age 72 born IN lived with them.
In 1900, Smith L. Gasaway was 54 born in Nov. 1845 in IN, his wife Lizzie was 42 born in Oct. 1857 in IN, they had been married for 34 years, had 13 childrn but 5 had died prior to June 1900.Children at home included Park A. age 16 born Mar. 1884 IN, Brocir (spelling not certain)daughter age 10 born in MO in Jan. 1890, Arthur S. 13 born in MO in Feb. 1887, Myrtle B. age 8 born in IN in Apr. 1891, Uriah W. age 4 born in IN in Dec 1895, Edith M. age 1 born in IN in April 1899.The census taker listed two other children as a daughter and a son but it appears they were grandchildren.Their last name looked like Hingart.
The above Mary A. was Mary Alzada who married George William Walker as her first husband.I am looking for the parents of Smith L. and his wife Margaret.
