Norma, if you are tracing the Gascoigne line in Oxfordshire (Bloxham, Banbury, Bampton, Standlake, Deddington and Bicester these Gascoignes are all related). It's an absolute headache trying to work out the connections as the families also spill into Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire (Helmdon, Moreton Pinkey, Weedon Lois and Whittlebury).
Another problem is they all tended to name their children after each other!!There are so many William's, Thomas's and Mary's!!!Also occupations that have anything to do with the rural sector such as blacksmith, butchers, yeoman are usually sons, brothers and cousins.
I have just received this info and I can go back further for you (another three generatons to Bicester and Bloxham and Standlake) but see if this bit helps first as you need to work out which one of these is your main connection -
