I'm searchingfor the records from the Quaker cemetery in Wilmington, Clinton Co., Ohio to establish a death date for Samuel Gaskill. THe cemeterywas near the court house. These graves along with another cemetery were moved in 1882 to Sugar Grove Cemetery. Samuel Gaskill appears in the 1830 Wilmington, Clinton Co., Ohio US Census but not the 1840.He was married twice: Lucretia Hays and Catherine Rea.I'm descended fromthe Rea mother and their son Eli. There is no stone in the cemeteryfor Samuel or wife in the section where the records would indicatebut there are 2 Gaskills listed for the charity section.I've been told thoseremains that were moved were placed in a mass grave. Can someone tell me where in Sugar Grove cemetery this took place?
I believe Samuel's grandson, William Smith Gaskill, when payingfor the lot for his father, Eli Gaskill senior (d. Nov. 1865), in Henry County, Iowa, was mixed into the Sugar Grove Cemetery records as buried there. He diedin 1885 in South Solon, Madison County, Ohio. I think he is buried in South Solon with other Gaskills in the old section. Can someone help with this. South Solon Cemetery is now run by the township and there are no early records. I've checked the newspaper for an obit.
