My name is Jennifer Gatens and I live in Cleveland, Ohio.I am only 36 years old yet I am the granddaughter of Patrick's son John Michael, 1894-1960. I suspect my father andhis 3 brothers and their children are missing from the family tree. No one knows we exist.
My father and his brothers never even knew their grandfather's name. Now they do, thank you so much. They also never knew any of their Gatens first cousins, although my uncle tells me he remembers his father's sister, Sarah, visiting the house when he was a child.
We did know the McGettigan name, that knowledge had been passed down and that my greatgrandfather had arrived via England with his wife who was English born and named Fisher.
I typed my last name into the computer and there you all were talking to each other. Amazing. The only connection we have ever had was 2 Gatens graves, that of James and Sarah, my grandfather's brother and sister who are buried in the same cemetery as he, inMontgomery, WVA. We have put flowers on their graves for years. I named my son James and passed my maiden name to him as well, my marriage broke up before he was born and I had retained the Gatens name.
Anyway, my grandfather's marriage to Phyllis Dinita, which I see someone had listed, was declared invalid at some point, they parted ways on their wedding day and never saw each other again. Of course there were no children.
John Michael married Hildred Maxine Saunders and they had 4 sons. Please contact me to update the tree. I am also interested in contact with the decendants of my grandfather's brothers and sisters. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
