John P. Gaughan of Arlington Heights Prayers for John P. Gaughan will be said at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, proceeding to Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 450 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights, for a Mass at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home. Born June 23, 1926, in Chicago, to Patrick and Catherine (nee Geraghty) Gaughan, he was born into eternal life on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008. John was a World War II Army combat veteran. He was chosen Father of the Year in 1963. He was owner of S&S Motor Express in Cicero for 35 years. Also, John was past president of the Cartage Exchange of Chicago. He is survived by his "bestest friend" and wife of 59 years, Rose M. (nee Smith); his children, John (Kathleen) of River Forest, Mary (Ralph) Chapman of Algonquin, Maureen (Lance) Krahl of Arlington Heights, Brian (Carolyn) of Marengo, Colleen (David Hogaboom) of Arlington Heights and Michelle (Jason Smith) Smith-Gaughan; his grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, Patrick, Suzanne, Katherine, Jeffery, Erin, Sheila, Brian, Sean, Kevin, Brendan, Daniel, Patrick, Kelly, Martin, Pat, Bridget, Timothy, Emma, Erin, Quinn, Maura, Emmett, Fei, Ellie Rose and Chiara; his great-grandchildren, Katie, Austin, Spencer and baby Chapman; his brother, Patrick (Lorrie); his sisters, Cathleen (Mike) Mikolajczak and Margaret Mary (Mark) Zirngibl; and his sister-in-law, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Patrick; his brother, James; and his sister Anna Mae. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Fr.
