Olivia M. Koob was born on May 21, 1917, in Wilmont Minnesota to William and Mary Schoo Gaul. She grew up in the Wilmont area and attended country school. On January 31, 1939, she and Cyril Koob were married at in Worthington, Minnesota. Following their marriage they lived in Lake Wilson, Minnesota. In 1972, Olivia started working at the Slayton Manor in Slayton. In 1975, the family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and Olivia worked at the Angelus Convalescent Home in Minneapolis. They later moved to Pipestone, Minnesota in 1981. In 1984, they moved to Slayton.She passed away on November 6, 2007, at her home in Slayton at the age of 90. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, Minnesota. Olivia enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing, and gardening.
Survivors include her husband Cy Koob, Slayton, MN; eight children and their spouses: William and Judy Koob, Madison, SD; Douglas and Ruth Koob, Platte City, MS; Pauline Robinson, Bayville, NJ; Anthony and LaLonnie Koob, Isle, MN; Katherine and Ted Plant, Rosemont, MN; Greg and Jeanne Koob, St. Cloud, MN; Kevin Koob, Madison, SD; and Les and Sue Koob, Bloomington, MN; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother Delven Gaul and his wife Elaine, Avoca, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters.
Memorial services were held at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN on Friday, November 9, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Larry Brixius officiating. The pianist was Judy Andrews with special music by Cassandra Koob. Interment at St. Columba Cemetery, Iona, MN.
