My Mom, Marie Gaylor Pycior, related a story she was given to by her brother, the late Elvin Gaylor( both of Magnolia NC), regarding a story Elvin was told by their Great Grandmother when he was young. Apparently when she was young, a Union soldier with Grant's Army, stopped by the house looking for food. She was told by her Mother to hide behind the door and not to make a sound, not a whisper, not a peep. It would have been in 1864 or there abouts. Does anyone know of any other civil war ties in that area? Would anyone in the Gaylor family have served in the Civil War? Does anyone know any more about Grant's army coming through the Magnolia area? Thanks!
