On August 2nd 2008, the Wyoming Monument in Wyoming, PA was struck by lightening, causing an estimated $10,000 of damages. This 130 year-old monument pays tribune to those who fought in the Wyoming Massacre in July 1778.Aaron Gaylord was among those who fought and died.
A fund has been set up to repair the monument. Just think, even if each of the descendants of these brave men contribute a few dollars, it could really add up! Please spread the word via family genealogy sites, etc.
Contributions can be made payable to the “Wyoming Monument Repair Fund” at any M&T Bank branch, or mailed to Wyoming Borough, 277 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, PA 18644.
(I’m not sure if there is a deadline for the funds. The members of my family’s genealogy website are sending our donations to one family member. She will then forward the funds. The deadline she has set is Oct 30.)
