Hi again Gary
Now I'm REALLY confused!
I have Thomas, Phyllis and Sarah Ann b London, but Josephus and Fred in Aberdeen. Where did you find Josephus' baptism record?
St Leonard's Shoreditch and the district of Whitechapel are about a mile apart.
It appears that London Gatters or Geaters are related to the Talaton lot; Richard and John are "lead names". There's a lot of interesting info on the Gatter history website, and our Richard's name is spelt Gatter on the trafalgar ancestors website. On the trafalgar site he says he comes from "Fallerton" which doesn't exist - but say it with a country accent and it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that he actually said Talaton.
How he got from Devon to Shoreditch is another little mystery :-)
