I have just discoverd that on 20 September 1776, my ancestor Daniel Deal and David Geer were at the barricks, place not named.Later in this diary, an Ebenzer Geer, John Spicer and Theophilus Avery are all given as being at a school meeting. This Daniel Deal was supposedly born September 1760 and his statement for a Rev. War pension said he was born in Lancaster Co., PA, and lived there about 15 years after the Rev. War.I have been unable to find a trace of him in Lancaster Co., PA.Could it be that it is because he was from Ledyard, CT, where the Avery, Geer and Spicer families mentioned in Daniel Deal's Diary started in 1776 lived?
Could the pension application been falsified?Daniel Deal never signed the application, just an "x"He was 73 and not in too good of health. In fact a guardian had been appointed.
The diary is hard to read, but I plan to struggle with it.May have to go to Washington, D.C. eventually, to see the original.
