The December 26, 1807 marriage in Wake Co., NC of Patsey Geer to Willis Roberts is found in "Marriages of Wake County, North Carolina 1770-1868," by Brent Holcomb, (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1983), p.266: "Willis Roberts and Patsey [sic] Geer;John Reeves, bondsman, 26 Dec 1807" This Patsy is likely the daughter of David’s brother, Frederick, who leaves a bequest in his will to the “Lawful Heirs of Patsey Roberts.” [see Wake Co., North Carolina Wills Unbound 1771 - 1925; Frederick's will dated June 2, 1837; probated 5/1840.] Frederick Geer's wife was Sarah Reeves the daughter of William Reeves and this John may have been Sarah's brother. The possibility that David Geer had two families has been disproved with DNA results showing descendants of David's often cited son Ransom Geer are not an exact DNA match to the descendants of John Geer (d. 1769) believed to be the father of Frederick and David mentioned above. It is through Ransom's mother, Mary "Polly" Geer (later wife of Samuel Usrey), also a daughter of David's brother Frederick (and sister to the Patsey Geer who married Willis Roberts in 1807), that Ransom is related to the Geer family of North Carolina. The father of Ransom Geer remains unknown. David Geer's (b. @1745 North Carolina, d. March 15 - April 14, 1821 in White Co., TN)married Susannah Madison/Mattison Jan. 3, 1770 in Granville Co., NC.
