I am researching this family (my ggggrandparents)and related Geers (Gears, Guiers.)I also find that this name is frequently misinterpreted in handwritten records and is mis-read as Greer, etc. Here is what I think I know:
James Geers, born 1784 in Virginia, Married Sarah ? about 1808.They came to Kentucky and were possibly in Scott County briefly, then came to Fayette County where they lived most of their adult lives.James died in 1869; he and Sarah are buried in the Lexington Cemetery but the site no longer has a marker.
There are two or more William Geers, oneborn in 1802,and onewho was an innkeeper in Fayette County KY very early on; I think he was likely a brother or cousin of James.
James and Sarah's children:
Betsy Geers , born 1809, married James Clemmins in 1827 in Fayette Co.
William Geers, born 1810 to 1815, ?died in 1898, a carpenter. Married twice, Malinda Patterson & Eliza Tudor.
Charles Geers, born 1810 to 1815, also a carpenter in Fayette Co., buried in Lexington Cem.
James P. Geers, born 1810 to 1815, a carpenter in Lexington, died 1895, buried Lexington Cem.
Walter T. Geers, born 1810 to 1820, was a Coach Painter in Lexington in 1864.
Emelia Geers, born 1814, married Henry Lancaster in 1830 (7 children, see below.)
Nancy J. Geers, 1818-1895, married Jacob Parker, (9 children, my gggrandparents, see "Parker" forum.)
Margaret Geers, born about 1820, married Isaac Simpson who may have been a descendant of Henry Clay.
Anotherfemale. ?Anna Belle?, or Polly who married Thomas Lowman, or Eliza Jane who married Preston Brown.
Robert P. Geers, 1829-1903, married Jo Ann ?, 3children, see below.
James Geers, about 1829 to 1905, married Emily James 4/14/1850. 5 children, see below.
I'm not sure why there are two sons named James. It is likely that one is a nephew who lived with them.
Children of Emelia Geers and Henry Lancaster:
Mary Lancaster born 1838
William Lancaster born 1843
Addie J. Lancaster born 1849 who married Charles (?) Bell in 1875, his father was the Charles Bell who designed Lexington Cemetery.
4 infants who died.
Children of Nancy J. Geers and Jacob Parker are listed in the Parker forum.I descend from them.

Robert A. Geers, he was a grocer at 413 W. Pine, Lexington KY, in 1906.

Leslie C. Geers, died in 1899 at age 34

Other Geers in Fayette County KY, whom I have no idea how they relate:
Emma Geers, born in 1832, lived with the Lancasters.
Thomas Geers, born 1833, apprenticed as a carpenter.
Sarah Geers, born 1840, lived with a Watts family.
Caroline M. Geers died in 1899 at the age of 86.
John Geers died in 1904 at age 50.
William Guiers of Philadelphia sold land in Scott Co. KY in early 1800's to one of the Parker's who is related.
If you have any information on these people, or would like more information, please contact me.My data is not the best, it is from a composite of sources which I will be glad to share.I have lots more on Nancy and Jacob's family. This is a difficult family to research because of the frequent misreading of the last name in the oldfashioned handwritings!
