My source for the marriage is a document in the LDS Family Library in Salt Lake, called 'An Analysis of Records to Identify the Jent Families', submitted by Ralph W. Shaw. (Try looking for it in the LDS Catalog.)
It says in part, "There are three male JENTS listed as heads of household in the 1790 U.S. census of Wake County NC: John, Thomas and Jesse JENT. No other JENTS were found in this record."
The supposition in the document is that Thomas b. 1780 is the son of this Thomas (b. bet. 1745-1750). It states:
"Thomas JENT born 1780, married 20 Jan 1801 to Elizabeth JONES. This Thomas JENT is surely the male tallied in the elder Thomas JENT domicile in the 16/26 age bracket in the 1800 census of Wake Co., NC. Neither I nor several other JENT researchers have been able to find this family in KY or TN records. This is the only Thomas JENT of the right age to have been the father of Alvin JENT born about 1809, John Wilson JENT born 1802 and Thomas Henderson JENT born 6 Sep 1813. John Wilson JENT reported to census takers that he was born in North Carolina, but the other two, Alvin and Thomas Henderson said to census takers they were born in KY."
My great-grandmother is the Dicie who was the daughter of Thomas Henderson Jent and Elizabeth Driver, presumably named for her Aunt Dicie who married William Roark.
