William (Wilhelm) Genz (b. June 9, 1817) and wife, Rosalei Moder, lived in Neu Damerow, Kreis Stolp, Germany. (now part of Poland - east of the city of Stulp)
They had 5 children: Theodore, Wilhelm, Bertha, Herman and Adeline.William came to the U.S. with eldest son Theodore in 1871 and settled at 23rd Place in Chicago, IL.They helped establish St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Chicago at 23rd Place and California Ave.
William's other children immigrated to the US.Bertha and Herman arrived in New York on April 18, 1873.
