john geohagen fayette co. KY culp revolutionary war
A bio of W.N. Culp from Portrait and Biographical Record of Macoupin County Illinois, 1891 says that his grandfather, a John Gahegan, born in Maryland, participated in the Revolutionary War and was an early settler of what is now Fayette, Co., Kentucky. I am assuming that these bios are fairly reliable, based on family recollections from that time.
The DAR Index of Patriots shows a John Geoghegan, born in Maryland, pensioned, and died in Kentucky 1826.
I am looking for other researchers of this name, and suggestions about resources in Fayette Co. or elsewhere. I am looking to establish that these are the same person.
Ancestry.com World Tree shows an extensive tree for John James Geoghegan but it lacks citations that would let me claim this is the appropriate person.
I am about to send for the pension record from the National Archives.
I would be glad to share that and the text of the bio of W. N. Culp.
