My grandfather's records show that Col. John George was the son of Isaac George. John George was bound to John Upton, Isle of Wight, which could mean he was in debtor's prison in Newgate, England and was sent to VA in disgrace. He moved to Isle of Wight in 1643 when deeded two parcels of land called the "Robert Bennett quarter tract". He also had land in Surrey Co., VA. He commanded the Isle of Wight Militia in 1677. He came to America on the ship Dorsetshire in 1632. He settled along the lower James River in Charles City Co.Va. He was a slave trader. His children were Sarah, Rebecca, and Isaac.
