Still looking for any information on the George families in Ray Co., MO census. My g-grandfather was Winfield Scott George, the youngest child in the family.I believe his father was James B. George, born VA. Although James is not listed on the census, I do know he was the father. Winfield Scott's mother was Susannah Parmenter (or Permenter) George. She had the following children listed in the census: James B., b. 08/01/1839 MO Elizabeth, b.11/10/1841 MO Olivia J., b. 02/10/1845 MO Winfield Scott,b. 07/01/1847 MO.
The other families living there at that time are:
William Mattison George, age 37, born KY Sarena(or Serene)Moss George, age 30, born KY Archibald George, age 12, born MO Nancy Elizabeth George, age 9, born MO William H. George, age 5, born MO Ann George, age 1, born MO.
Warren George, b. 10/25/1814, Lancaster, VA Jane Elizabeth Peyton George, age 30, born VA Lavina Benson George, b. 02/03/1841, born MO Henry George, age 6, born MO Alonzo Fitzallen George, b. 4/4/1845, born MO Herilda George, age 3, born MO William H. George, age 6/12, born MO
I believe Susannah George was married a second time to Lewis Thompson, and had a son, Lewis Halleck Thompson 7/27/1859, who died 06/17/1903, and is buried in Caldwell Co., MO.Susannah Parmenter George Thompson died 02/09/1892 and is buried in Kingston Cem., Kingston, Caldwell Co., MO.
I am particularly interested to know if James B. George, husband of Susannah, died before the census or had left home. Also, could he be a brother of Warren? If so, one source lists Warren George's parents as Enoch George and Frances Garland.
