Cheryl,
Thanks for the additional info and email
address. My primary interest is also the George line but sometimes look at others in an effort to go around dead ends....let me correct my reference to Solomon Wolfe and Wm
J.George (Cary's oldest son)as the 1847 Angelina Co.,TX Tax List.....it should have
been 1845 Angelina Co.,Republic of Tx Tax
List ("1850 Census and First Taxpayers of
Angelina County,Texas" by Lucille Krisch,
1981)
I believe Doris Claiborne tried primarily to
compile info on John Cary George's family
and relied on Mrs. Bettye Collier Smith's research for info on his siblings, parents, etc. (I've met Doris but certainly can't
speak for her)There is certainly plenty of
room for confusion since so many of the names
keep showing up in several of the families in
SC,GA,TX which may suggest a relationship but
is also a seductive trap for the unwary. Some of these families were so large they may
have run out of imagination!!I've spent
the majority of my available research time
on my maternal line(Ezell) but hope to do more on John Cary's ancestors as I get time.
I too am interested in your Jesse George
b.178? and Dr. Jesse George who supposedly
died near Longview,TX in the 1850's also
born in the 178?'s.Will post and/or email
any revelations.....Dan George
