Hi Morris, I recently was sent by another researcher, a copy of a letter found in the Carter family records located in the McClung Collection,Knoxville,TN.This letter was written by W.R.Pope in June, 1949 to an unnamed member of the George family.Mr. Pope states in his letter that he is a descendant of Thomas Carter,Jr. second son of Captain Thomas Carter of "Barford". In the letter he provides the following lineage: Nicholas George.(This would be Nicholas,Jr.--Greg) William George & Elizabeth Carter Thomas George--"the second son of William & Elizabeth Carter George was born 23 April 1701 and died 1748. He was named in honor of his grandfather,Thomas Carter who died the year before his birth.Thomas married about 1722-23,Rebecca---." His son was.." William George,the eldest son of Thomas & Rebecca George was born 16 June 1742.William married about 1745,Winifred.. William left Lancaster County & emigrated to the Western part of Virginia where he is said to have been killed by Indians." His son was..."Solomon George(this is my greatx4grandfather--Greg) son of William & Winifred was born 1757 & died 30 October 1830.He served in the Revolutionary Army.Solomon George emigrated to Knox County,Tennessee & married Margaret Crawford.Sept. 12,1803.They had four sons Samuel C.S. George,Andrew L.W.George.Wiley B.B. George,(My greatx3 grandfather--Greg) and Pleasant M.G.George.
