BINGO!!!!!
William and Elenor George lived in Jones Co.,
NC Jan 7, 1784, where their son Brice George
was born.Brice moved to South Carolina about 1812, and from there to Tatnall County,
Georgia about 1817, then in 1819 to Appling
County, Georgia. His wife was named Sarah and was born 1790 in North Carolina; maiden
name unknown. They had the following children(names and birthdates from Brice George's old family Bible.):
William b 10-31-1809 m. Mary Ann Moody
Brice, Jr. b 2-19-1811 m. Mahala Moody
Elizabeth b 3-5-1813, m. John S. Abbott
Asa b. 7-9-1815 m Elizabeth Touchton
Lanie b 3-27-1818 d 3-30-1834 m._________
*David b 2-6-1820 m. Ricy (maiden name Unk.)
Daniel b 11-9-1823 m. Unknown
Duncan b. 2-7-1826 died before 1830
Sarah b 10-20-1828 m. William Tyre
My line is David.
The story goes re: william George that there
were three George Brothers, two came to America before the American Rev. and one stayed in England. After the rev. William
George (father of Brice George), went back to
England to seek help for the colonists.Sone
one in London recognized him and shot him on the streets of London for his part in helping
the colonists get their freedom from England.
This is known as family lore and has not been
documented. Brice George also had a abook
that belonged to William George titled "The
Office and Authority of a Justice of the Peace, and of Sheriffs, coroners, etc.,
According to the Law of the State of North
Carolina". It was published at Newbern by
Franscois Xavier Martin, 1791.Written in the back of the book is "Wm. George his book,
bought September the 23rd 1791 and price was
L-1-10".I have a 1790 US census showing an
Eleanor George as head of household in
Northumberland County, Virginia.I would like any info anyone might have on William
and Elenor George family.Thanks, Virginia
