I am looking for researchers for the George family in Mobile, AL, from 1830 to 1860. Specifically, I'm looking at the family of Caroline George, who was born about 1800 in Pennsylvania, daughter of French parents. She had 5 living daughters in the 1850 Mobile federal Census. She was listed as a teacher in the 1860 Census with two daughters at home, Caroline and Mary. It's possible that Caroline's husband was Archilles George. His family in 1840 could have been the same group I found in 1850 without him. Archilles also was in the 1830 Census in Mobile, but it's hard to read the Census page on Ancestry.com. Two George sisters married men named Steel or Steele. Edgar Steel married Belle Ellen George, and Thomas Steel married Mary G. George, either in Alabama or Louisiana.
