Mary, this came from the History of Pendleton Co.I don't know who wrote it.

James (Grant) -- Kas.3.Reuben (Sidney Calhoun, Hannah Simmons).4.Solomon.5.William (Phebe Vanmeter)-- out.6.Mary A.(Isaac Vanmeter) Grant* -- k. 1860*. Branch of Reuben; -- 1. Naomi(John Ayers).2. I don't know what all of the marks stand for.
I do family genealogy, too. My husband's GGrandfather was Sylvester George, born about the same time as Sylvanus and the names are used interchangeably, but I don't know if they are the same person.By the way, my husband was raised in Grant Co. WV, next door to Pendleton.
