I have been trying to do some research on my family in Crawford and Mercer Counties, PA.
My great-grandparents were Georges and I have discovered that they were resident in Crawford County in 1910 and 1920. But I have hit a roadblock as I know nothing more about their ancestry.
I have found them on a 1920 Census in Crawford County. I have found them in 1930 in Mercer County which is where they remained their whole lives.
My grandfather Charles George was born ABT 1896. He worked his whole life for the Erie-Bessemer Railroad. Sometime after 1910, he married Sarah "Gertrude" Watt from Allegheny County and they moved to Crawford. They had several children: Jean (listed in 1920 as Eugenie), Ruth, Vinnie, Donald, M. Louise, and Charles "Choog".
I have absolutely no information on Charles' family before him. I know that his whole life he claimed to be of Welsh descent.
I have a 1910 Census in Crawford from Summerhill Township that lists him as a laborer at age 15. I am only intuiting that this is Charles because the 1920 confirms that he was in Crawford County. If he was a dairy farm laborer this would confirm it as him because I know that he was a milk delivery man when he met and married my great-grandmother.
Any help you might provide would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to trace Charles' ancestry back and find which of the many George branches he may descend from. I appreciate everyone's time and consideration.
Again, the family is:
George, Charles (ABT 1894- <1980) m. George, Sarah "Gertrude" (Watt) (ABT 1896-AFT 1990) +George, Jean +George, Ruth +George, Vinnie +George, Donald +George, M. Louise +George, Charles "Choog"
