Hi,I have some info on early GA (Pike & Spalding Co) GEORGE families, one of which married into my own REID family of Pike Co Ga.The Oak Hill Cem in Griffin Spalding Co Ga lists: GEORGE Jeptha V.b 08 June 1848 , d 11 Feb 1878 "J.D.(John) b 18 Aug 1839, d 30 Apr 1889 "Mrs Margaret C. wife of J.D. b Chambers Co AL 07 May 1845, d 23 Sept 1885 NEWMYER, Margarita A. GEORGE wife of J. Newmyer b 15 Dec 1866, d 07 June 1891 GEORGEElizabeth A. wife of James R. GEORGE, b 14 Apr 1820, d 17 May 1874 ELLIS, Rebecca H. SNEED, wife of M.J. ELLIS, b Apr 1793, d Oct 1865 Perhaps we may assume that the parents of Jeptha & John D. are James R. & Elizabeth A. GEORGE since they are buried in the same plot & the dates correspond. And the parents of John D. GEORGE's wife Margaret C. ELLIS, are M.J. ELLIS & Rebecca H. SNEED.
Also I have other GEORGE data:a Mr. Jeptha V. GEORGE (b abt 1810 Ga), who married my ancestor Anna T. REID (b abt 1815 Ga) abt 1830 Reidsboro Twp, Zebulon Pike Co GA. Anna T. REID's parents were John Robt Alex. REID (1770 NC- 1839 Ga) and Mary D. MAYES (1782 SC- 1842 Ga).In Mary D. Mayes REID's Will (prob 05 July 1842 Zebulon, Pike Co Ga) she showed her great contempt for Jeptha V. GEORGE (who was a gambler & wheeler-dealer, he ran up huge debts) by stating numerous times that "He", Jeptha V. GEORGE was to have no control over her dtr Anna T. REID's inheritance & slaves.Seems Jeptha drank & was a womanizer as well.
Perhaps this early Jeptha V. GEORGE is an Uncle (brother to James R. GEORGE?) of the other later Jeptha V. & his bro etc.Has to be a family name passed along through the generations. I have no children listed for Ann T. (Tabiitha?) REID & Jeptha V. GEORGE as yet, been a genealogist & gathering data for over 50 yrs now. Hope this data will help someone.Kathleen < email@example.com >
