Hi Peter - You are right.Alot of the research I didn't have to do because my grandfather left a note showing descent from the Magna Carta baron - Sir Robert de Roos (Ros) down to Sir William Gerard. My problem is that I have no idea how it descend to my grandfather, Ross Forrester Collins. What little information I have been able to find on the Gerards, I found on ancestry.com and other sites like this.I was only able to track my grandfather's line back to my great-great grandfather who disappears in Ohio.So far I am stuck but I will keep on trying and have a book on order. The family name was Collins and who know what the family name is that ties into Gerard? There is a lady who has promised to send me some information on the Gerard family but she was out of the country when she answred my query on the bulletin board and said I would hear from her when she got back.So far, haven't heard anything yet. I don't know where else to tell you to look.I was not able to find your Peter who was married to Sarah Downall. That means nothing because Peter is one of the family names and names do run in families. If I do hear from this lady and come accross your Peter, I will let you know.Anyway, good luck.Live long and prosper.Mary
