There are two Edward Gerards in my family lineage.
One was Edward Gerard (Sr.) married to Caroline Davis. He was born in Canada in the 1830's and she was born in 1841 in "Upper Canada".
They were married on August 2, 1855 in Midland, Michigan.
Ed and Caroline’s children were as follows: -George Henri - born in Quebec in 1857 -Leonard – born in Michigan in 1859 -Lorenzo Edward Gerard - born 1864 in Midland County, Michigan -Edward – born, 1864 (twin?) – died April 8, 1865 at 8 months of age -Ida -born in 1866 -Cora M. - born in 1871 and died on March 5, 1980 at 8 yrs, 3 months old -Mary B. - born in 1879 -Francis - died of diarrhea at 1 month old on October 4, 1882 -Lafayette Washington – b April 15, 1883, d. July 30, 1883 -Carrie (?) – 1884
Caroline died on May 19, 1883 at 41 years of age. She is buried at the LaPorte Cemetery, Ingersoll Township, Midland County, Michigan next to Cora M., Francis, Edward (8 month old infant), Lafayette W., George (son of George Henri and Katie), Carrie (1883) and George Henri Gerard. I do not know when Edward died or where he was buried. -----------------------------
Edward Lorenzo Gerard (Jr.) was born in 1864 in Michigan.
Amy A. Bellinger and Edward Lorenzo Gerard filed for their marriage license in December, 1889 in Isabella County, Michigan. They were married December 24,1889 or 1890 – Ed was 25 and Amy was 22 years old -in Shepherd, Michigan, Isabella County and were married by F.M. McClintic; witnesses were Herbert Nicholson and Millie Johnson, both from Lincoln Township.
Edward L. Gerard was a farmer and owned a farm outside of Mt Pleasant, Michigan.Edward L. had grown up on the farm there or nearby.Records show that his residence at death was Deerfield Township in Isabella County.
Ed and Amy (A. Bellinger) had two children: - Glen K Gerard - b. October 13, 1890 - Myra H. – b. Oct. 30, 1891 born in Mt Pleasant, d. 1970
Amy died on February 8, 1928 at 60 years of age from heart trouble – she died at her farm home near the Indian School in Mt Pleasant.She had been suffering from stomach trouble for some time. She and Ed had been living at their home for about 25 years or since about 1903.Her funeral was held on Feb. 10 at the Methodist church with Rev. M.E. Reusch officiating. Survived by her husband, daughter, and brother Ellis Bellinger of Flint.
After Amy’s death, Ed lived with his daughter Myra and her family according to the Michigan 1930 US Census.Edward L. died on August 10, 1934 at 70 years, 6 months, and 4 days of age from myocarditis, hepatitis, and other causes listed that are illegible in records.Ed L. and Amy are both buried in Riverside Cemetery next to Philip and Almira Bellingar.
