Hi Stacy et al.I have a large public family tree on Ancestry.com covering the Van Wert Germanns and many associated families. As for the Hamilton Germanns, my guess is they tie into the Ripley family, but this I don't know for sure. The biggest most obvious difference between the Holmes County and Van Wert Germanns and the Ripley, Cincinnati, and Kentucky Germanns is that the Van Wert/Holmes Co. Germanns were Reformed Protestants / Lutherans from the Palatinate and the Ripley/Ohio River Germanns were Catholics from Switzerland. If you can ascertain whether your Hamilton County Germanns were originally Protestant or Catholic will help you immensely to place them within the existing family lines. There was a large protestant contingent of Germanns in Hessen, Meisenheim, Landau, and Zweibruck.I believe they are somehow connected to my family, but I believe pre-1700, so thanks to the Louis's of France, most of the records are probably lost.I do believe the German Germanns probably all originated from Switzerland prior to the 1500s, but this is a hunch.Internal family history from the Van Wert Germanns says two brothers (soldiers), potentially from Wurttemberg, settled in the Palatinate following their service in the 30 Years War back in the 1600s.The Swiss family is from Fruetigen, Switzerland. No known connection I'm aware of for the last 340+ years other than shared surname.
