My husband's great, great garndmother was Abigail Chapman, daughter of David and Achsa (Abbott) Chapman. She married Henry Clayton, born 1852 in England died 1878 in Oberlin, Ohio. After Henry's death, Abigail married Dr. William H. Geddy, who served during the Civil War with 178th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. His trade before the Civil War was a shoe cobbler, son of a William R. Geddy, born in Pa. Matter of fact, Dr. Geddy married Abigail (Chapman) Clayton in Erie, Pa. Dr Geddy and his wife migrated to Montgomery County, Il, where he practiced medicine, delivering my husband's grandfather at birth. Dr. Geddy and his wife Abigail are buried in Nokomis, Il. Have a photo of Dr. Geddy as well. His death cert says he was born in Pa and was son of William R. Geddy, also listed as born in Pa. I am at work right now, so don't have dates close at hand, but can provide them, as I have Dr. Geddy's Civil War pension records, his death cert and will. Will be happy to post that data on this site. Looking forward to any response. Even though this is my husband's step great, great grandfather, it would be interesting to also know his background. Thanks in advance.
