On 29 Jan 1843, E[dward] J Bullock of Hickman, Fulton Co, KY, stated that James and John Montgomery were brothers who served in the American Revolution as officers in the VA Continental Line. Bullock was representing John's grandchildren vs Richard Gholson who has drawn much or all of the money. He had been informed that money had been drawn also by Chittenden Lyon, James Harlan, and Lynn Boyd. Bullock wanted to traces these sums "into the pocket of Mr R Gholson". He wanted to know how much had allowed to James Montgomery and was "yet unpaid". Also, he wanted to know what was needed to prove heirship of James Montgomery. Unfortunately there is no more about that in the American Revolution pension file for John Montgomery.
