He was widowed when Isabella died on 1 July 1883 at Redcraigs Nigg. He was listed as formerly a general labourer.
William died a few years later on 20 February 1886 at Turners Close, High Street, Stonehaven. His occupation was listed as a ploughman.
His daughter Margaret Gibb married James Main, a whitefisher on 16 June 1844 at Fetteresso, Kincardine, Scotland.
