Recent searches on Free BMD show the following interesting entries (among others - it is worth checking this site regularly):The Frank Giesen mentioned in my earlier post, born December 1899 in Poplar, London, died aged 1 year in December 1900.The Alberta Ruby Giesen mentioned, was born in Pancras.
Henry Richard Giesen married, in September 1874, either Jane Elizabeth Hickman or Anne Phillpot. If this is the same Henry Richard Giesen who is possibly my great-great-great-great grandfather, then this was not his first marriage. In the 1851 census, he was recorded living with his wife Hepsibah (look we all have our cross to bear, ok?)and their several children. These included my possible 3 x great grandfather, William Henry Giesen, allegedly the father of Charles Winchester Green Culling, who later changed his name to Charles Winchester Giesen. The odd thing is that this 1874 marriage took place in King's Norton, near Birmingham, whereas Henry Richard Giesen generally lived in London, and was living in Lambeth when he died in 1895.
In December 1872 Maria Giesen married Walter Baxendale in Lambeth. She may have been Henry's daughter.
Martha Ann Giesen died March 1893 aged 52 in Croydon. The 1881 census shows her as a widow living with her twin brother Walter Green and his children.Does anyone know whose widow she was?
