Born in Lyon on October 14, 1806, of Swiss nationality.Fervent Catholic.Silk merchant, he left in 1832 for the United States and married in Brooklyn, New York, on November 29, 1834, Harriet Christmas, daughter of Charles Christmas, of English origin, born in Brooklyn on March 22, 1818, and died in Nice, France on June 14, 1888.
Claude-Thaddee and his wife returned to France around 1863, with their four unmarried daughters, leaving in America their sons and their married daughter Adele.They acquired a property in Nice, 75 Promenade des Anglais, and another in Evian (the Villa Bellevue) living, depending upon the seasons, in one or the other of these villas, or in Geneva, Switzerland, where Claude-Thadee died July 9, 1883.Their tomb is at Loyasse, a Lyon cemetery.

7.Rosine, born in Brooklyn, August 1, 1844, married Louis Gignoux.
8.Charles, born in Brooklyn, October 12, 1845, died in 1858.
9.Jules-Ernest, born in Brooklyn, July 14, 1847, died March 14, 1914, married (1) Margaret Evalina Mayer; (2) May Loftus.
10. Marie-Harriet-Lucy, born June 24, 1849, died in 1851.
