Thanks for the post, that certainly had some good family information in it. Did the files mention anything else about the Girty family in general? Could you post the entire narrative or is it too long? Thanks.
The 1896 Cherokee Old Settler Pay Roll provides what few family connections that Snake Girty had. The first name listed is the Old Settler and the names that follow are the person who was paid and their relationship to the old settlers. The numbers are not listed here, but I can send if you're interested.
Source Cheokee Old Settler Roll, 1895 & Index to Payment Roll, 1896, compiled and indexed by Larry S. Watson, Histree 1992.
Kul-kul-loos-ky (dead) Can. 156 Snake Girty (uncle) age 60, M, Webbers Falls.
Old Ned (dead) Can. 271 Snake Girty (nephew), age 60, M, Webbers Falls.
Hog Stones (dead) Can. 221 Snake Girty (heir), age 60, M, Webbers Falls.
These are the only mention of Snake Girty. Jack, Stud, and Simon Girty's families are also listed. The Cherokee Roll lists Snake's mother as Nahne and father unknown. You may be able to look up the Old Settler Roll and find the above names and who was in the family. The book I have has the names in alphabetical order so finding people of the same family with different names is difficult.
I'm sure that Kul-kul-loos-ky is the son of Snake's brother, Kah-ler-sah-yoh-hah.
