i am descended from a patrick gleeson of county clare who emigrated to connecticut around the time of the civil war. i traced the roots to coore, doonagen, ennis, which is near to spanish point in country clare. the names of matthew and cornelius appear in the family tree, and a "connie gleeson" was a name my father knew. my grandfather, james f gleason, was born in east haddam in 1882, and the "ea" spelling is on his birth certificate, tho our family bible has gleeson. i grew up in the parkchester section of the bronx in the 1950's. anyway, perhaps this info will help you.the clare heritage society in corofin is very helpful, and even more so if you have the father's name of your first american relative, and his mother's maiden name. then, by process of elimination, they can provide further info. i tried to send a similar message before, so this may be repetitive, butnot intentionally.
