Carrolls, Ryans, Gleason in Co Tipperary and or Co Limerick 1820s
I write this with little expection of a reply.
Family myth about my maternal garndfather’s family (Carroll) from Co Tipperary has it that if I am ever in the Tipperary / Limerick area and come across Ryans or Gleasons that they will be related to me..
My grandfather Meredith Francis Carroll (O’Carroll is long dead (18/01/1893 - 17/12/1957)) as his father Thomas Carroll (c 1853 – 13/10/1919). Francis called his older sons:
Michael Thomas (25/08/1883 Crossmolina Co Mayo – 22/09/1919 South Africa)
Thomas Patrick (24/07/1888 Co Tipperary– 30/01/1961 New York USA)
Michael andPatrick are names of their mother’s male family members, with the double use of Thomas maybe indicating that Thomas’s ( born 1853) father was also called Thomas?
Meredith and Francis are not in their mother’s family names.
Are there any desendents of a Thomas Carroll (born c 1820 in Co Tipperary who married a lady called Ryan or Gleason, who may have either come from Co Tipperary or Co Limerick?
I know that Thomas (born 1853) was in the Royal Irish Constabulary (R.I.C.) and because he was under 5 feet 9 Inches had to have relations already in the Police. Maybe a Ryan or a Gleason?
A you can see the queat may be futile but her goes.
