BOSSIER CITY, LA- Services for Dorothy Milks, 81, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Cliff Estes pastor of Waller Baptist Church and Rev. Ricky Edmonds pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Plain Dealing, LA. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.
Mrs. Milks was born June 27, 1928 in Plain Dealing, LA to Vernon and Polly Jones Gleason and died October 5, 2009 in Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Milks graduated from Plain Dealing High School in 1945. She traveled with her husband who was in the U.S. Air Force and worked for J.C. Penney Co. in California and Louisiana and was then employed by Coca Cola in Shreveport, LA. As a member of Waller Baptist Church, she served as church secretary, pastor secretary and also as WMU director.
Her husband of 40 years, Harrold V. Rodgers, parents and a brother, Corby Ray Gleason preceded her in death.
Mrs. Milks is survived by her husband, Warren D. Milks; son, Charles H. Rodgers and wife Diane; grandsons, David Rodgers and wife Whitney, Adam Rodgers; special daughter-in-law, Robin Martin Rodgers; sister, Mae Gleason Blevins and husband Bob; brother, Calvin E. Gleason; sister-in-law, Martha P. Gleason; stepsons, Warren T. Milks and Mark Milks; granddaughters Beckie Milks, Carie Ann Barnard and their mother, Bebe Milks Slawson; great-grandchildren, Camron Mapes and Halania Fohl and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Anthony Lodestro, Edwin Rance, Jr., Lee Knowles, Toney Kuchar, David Jacks and Gary Moore.
Mrs. Milks enjoyed life to the fullest, but it was time to go be with Jesus and all the family members that passed before her. Do not grieve for me. Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel 318-746-2543
