Wills and Inventories, Bk 3-4-5-6, p. 155, Davidson Co., TN: WILL OF MICHAEL GLAVES. His Last Will and Testament. Recorded Sept. 20th, 1811.
In the name of God Amen: I Michael Glaves(sic) of Davidson County having arrived to Old Age and being Inform in health but in a Perfect Sound mind but knowing Its Appointed for all men to die, I Recommend my Soul to God, And my body to the Grave And After being Decently buried, I wish my estate Divided in the following manner,
Item 1st. I Wish my Dear beloved Wife Rachel Glaves to have full and Peaceable Possession of the Tract of Land on Which I now Live During her Natural Life, And After Death I Give it to my Son Thomas Glaves.
Item 2d. I Give and bequeath to my Son John Glaves, Six hundred and forty Acres of Land lying in Wilson County on the Waters of Cedar Lick Creek.
Item 3d. I Give and bequeath to my Son William Glaves, Six hundred and forty Acres of Land lying in Wilson County on Spencers Creek.
Item 4th. All the Lands I have on Duck River ly8ing in the County's (sic) of Maurry & Bedford I Give and bequeath to my Son Matthew Glaves.
Item 5th. I Give and bequeath three hundred and forty Acres of Land lying in Davidson County lying on the Waters of Whites Creek and One hundred Acres adjoining Zack Stull's in Davidson to my son Michael Glaves.
Item 6th. I Allow each of my Single Sons that is John Glaves, Michael Glaves & Thomas Glaves, as long as they continue Living with their Mother each of them one horse of their own and no more.
Item 7th. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Isabella Glaves the Gray Diomede filly and a Negro girl named Priscilla.
Item 8th. My sons John Glaves, Michael Glaves, Thomas Glaves and William Glaves Also to my my Daughter Isabella Glaves each Two hundred Dollars When her mother my think she should have it;
Item 9th. I Wish all my Stock of Cattell (sic) to be Collected next July and Sold upon a Credit of not more than Two years nor less than One Except Ten Cows and Two or three Horses. I Give on Negro Girl named Jenna to my Son Matthew Glaves, the ballance (sic) of my Negro Slaves I wish to Remain in the possession of my Wife during her Life To be under the Direction of my Executors who are as followeth Ezekiel B. McCoy John Davis and William Glaves.

Since I Assigned the Above I find that I had forgotten to make Provisions for my Daughter-After the death of my Wife I wish my Negroes to be Sold Except Negro Boy named Jack Which I give to my Son Michael Glaves. Also a Negro boy names Jesse Which I intend for my Son Thomas Glaves, When it may be convenient mfor my Wife and my Above Named Two Sons Michael and Thomas Glaves Shall think it Convenient to separate them: Also a Little Yellow Salve named Cynthia Which I Give to my Grand Daughter Rachel Turner. Also a Small Girl five years Old Ceila my name, After the Death of My Wife my Son Glaves is to have her and her increase. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Turner Two hundred Dollars in Cash to be left in the hands of my Executors to be paid to her for her benefit and her Childrens, And If She Should Die before She Receives it, my Executors Are to be bound to let her Children have Two hundred Dollars When they Are in Want of it. All the Money Due me at this time is to be Collected by my Executors Also the Money Arising from the Sale of my orses and Cattle next fall is to be Collected by my Executors and Equally Divided between all my Children Except One Which is Elizabeth Turner. The Truton Colt now a year Old I Give to my Son Thomas Glaves, my black Smith Tools, I Give to my Son John Glaves.
This is my last Will and Testament this thirteeth Day of February 1811.
