My 3rd great-grandfather was James H. Glines. b. Abt. 1790 in Hillsborough or Peterborough, NH. He died about 1849. He married Mary Hannaford b. Abt 1790 in Andover, Merrimack NH and died 1 April 1872. I have some research from others that states he was the son of David and Priscilla Glines of Moultonborough. He was supposedly the first white male child born in that Town. This research lists James H. as the first of 9 children, all of whom but James were born in Moultonborough.
I guess that it seems very strange to me that David would leave his farm in Moultonborough, travel 3/3 across the state to have his first child and move back again. There is also some oral history in my family that tells of steerage papers from Ireland for my James. At any rate, I'm trying to tie down the connection between this David, son of Israel, and my great-grandfather James. H.
One other interesting thing intrigues me. If Israel Glines was one of my great-grandfathers, then he fought in the same company of Col. Timothy Bedel's regiment during the Revolution that another of my great-grandfathers did. But I just don't know.
