Thank you. Helps a bit. Seems to take this line back a generation or two farther back in time.
But who is John 1558??I do NOT have his name on any of my files.
But did come across a very interesting circle of family.
That of David ASHLEY**** and Hannah GLOVER,**** dau of Henry GLOVER and Ellen WAKEMAN.
David and Hannah had a daughter Sarah. Sarah married Thomas INGERSOLL. Their son David married Lydia CHILD. Their son William married Lydia iNGERSOLL. Their son Jared married Elizabeth K ? They had a son Jared.
William and Lydia also had a sonDavid INGERSOLL. David married Sarah PARSONS. David and Sarah had a son Erastus. Erastus married Sally SMITH. They had a daughter Emily P INGERSOLL. Emily P INGERSOLL married a Joseph MILLS of NY, a bookkeeper. (Found on 1860 census.)
Who is this line of MILLS???Am very curious.
Lydia INGERSOLL was daughter of Moses INGERSOLL andTryntji Catherine VAN SLYKE. (Could this also be SLACHT/SLECHT/SLAGHT???)
Moses was son of Thomas INGERSOLL and Sarah ASHLEY.
Sarah ASHLEY was daughter of David ASHLEY**** and Hannah GLOVER.*****
We have come full circle here.*****
Later census shows that Joseph MILLS was a "Banker".
Am wondering if this line of MILLS may be related to the Darius OGDEN MILLS line of Hudson River Valley area?? (MILLS Mansion, Stattsburg area???)
Darius and his brothers were founders of the BIG banks of California. Can see his file on various genes sites, too.
Now my initial observation here, is that my MILLS descendant does match on DNA markers with some of similar desendant lines of surnames, per the FTDNA INfo desk. ASHLEY - BUCKLEY - GLOVER - HARRIS - PARR - PERRY - TERRY etc.,
In that they share a Common Ancestor. (MRCA).
We need to get back farther than both side of the MILLS, the ASHLEY's, the GLOVER's
to identify that elusive ancestor/surnamed party.
Note: Can see genetic matching of markers on the web site, www.ysearch.org (the i d #URC6K.)
